Tampere hall – product development process
Tampere Hall set up a process to build a new team for for catering services. The goal of the team was to innovate new service packages. The team included managers from different departments of Tampere Hall: catering, cultural productions, congress hall and service department. The aim was to integrate catering services as a part of the organization and develop new products and services for customers in all the departments.
New Beat designed a process that combined band coaching and business consulting in collaboration with Personal Results Ltd. The whole process was 3 months long and included innovating, band coaching, accounting, and a test drive for the new services. The process had a tight timeline and high expectations as Tampere Hall was about to organize catering for the Independence Day Reception hosted by the president of Finland.
The new team delivered 70 new ideas for 12 new service packages. The first ideas were ready for production right away. Ecological values and supporting local farmers were important for the new team. One of the special ideas was to hire a local cow, called Taru, to produce milk for the new ice cream factory they created. Taru was the leading star also for the following media campaign that gave a positive kick off to the new catering service.
Paulina Ahokas reflected the process afterwards: "What was special about it was that people felt energised even they had worked hard under time pressure. Band coaching was a good way to start thinking out of the box and really let even crazy ideas fly. It was important for us also to build the team quickly and integrate new members in our organization. The musical session gave a strong cultural introduction to our organization and enabled us to create a new mindset and working methods.
